Jane Jordan’s 5 Tips for a Successful Pet Photoshoot

Are you planning a pet photoshoot for your furry BFF? If so, you’ve come to the right place!

Here are my 5 top tips to a successful Pet Photoshoot….

  • 1. Talk to your pet – The first step to help boost your pet’s confidence and reassure during the photoshoot is talking to them. Talk in soft and low tones, stay close and move slowly so they feel comfortable.
  • 2. Offer rewards – Use treats and other rewards to praise them if they do something correctly. This will help them associate the behaviours you want with a positive reward.
  • 3. Give them breaks – Take frequent breaks during the photoshoot to help them stay calm and relaxed. If they are getting too stressed, give them some space and let them have a break from the photoshoot.
  • 4. Use calming tactics – Provide your pet with a comforting item to help them stay calm during the photoshoot such as a favourite toy or blanket. You can also use calming tactics such as deep breathing exercises, massage, or playing music to help them relax even more.
  • 5. Be patient – Lastly, be patient! Taking good photos of a pet can take time and effort, so it’s important to remember to remain patient, positive and encouraging throughout the entire process.

Pet photography isn’t just about taking a few cute pics of your beloved pet – it’s about capturing the true spirit and personality of them in a way that you can treasure for a lifetime. A little patience and encouragement will go a long way to achieving those special images.

Studio life after lockdown, my new normal.

I’m so looking forward to re-opening the studio after lockdown and when doing so, the safety of my clients is an absolute priority. I’m, therefore following government guidelines and putting safety measures in place. So I’ll be changing the way I work and take bookings. Here’s how:-

I’ll be leaving an hour gap between bookings. This is to prevent a crossover of clients.

I’ll be vigilantly cleaning and wiping all surfaces between shoots.

New hand sanitizer dispensers are currently being installed at the studio.

Following government guidelines, I’ll be maintaining a safe distance from clients at all times.

I have signed up to the Covid 19 Health & Safety Protocol from the Master Photographers Association. This means I must follow stringent guidelines laid out by the association which are in keeping with government guidelines. A great way to maintain the upmost safety for my clients.

I’m planning to re-open on the 10th of June and it is now possible to book shoot online here: https://calendly.com/janejordanphotography
